Palettal Prose: Loving Kindness

tigermonkLoving Kindness       I soften at her name

Hello, come sit beside me

She curves into the hard seat

quietly       alert

with gratitude for wide open

sky     cool water

newly mown grass

Loving Kindness–

what a mush she is

a naive

pushover    but still    wise

you can’t stop

watching her

moment to moment

helping cheerfully

babbling slightly

Hippo LoveShe laughs at all our jokes

We love hearing her

relax around her     put our

heads in her lap    our hearts in her

hands

Palettal Prose: Kali Burns A Way

Orange red fire light

head ablaze over water

She ignites the bridge

that connects us till we

too burn like dying cities

or sizzling wires—No

where else to toss

the plastic and plutonium

but where we stand now

Oh Kali shooting star—

destroyer and mother

of what rises from ash

Burn Kali

Burn what is dead

Burn Burn through

the night—

-Claire Blotter
